Samsung has started to offer the One UI 7 update it developed for its foldable phone series to users through the beta process. The new version, which was first tested on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 model, draws attention with two important features that improve the user experience on foldable devices.
Samsung may officially integrate the features of Google Pixel Fold
Samsung, one of the leading brands in the foldable phone market, was criticized for some deficiencies on the software side despite its success on the hardware side. The company’s late adoption of some functions offered by rival companies has attracted considerable attention.
One of these was the “swipe to continue” feature offered by Google on the Pixel Fold model. Samsung is finally bringing this function to the Galaxy Z Fold 6 model. With the new update, applications open on the inner screen can be instantly continued on the outer screen with a simple upward swipe gesture from the screen lock when the device is turned off.
Another important change that came with the update was the automatically hidden taskbar. With Android 13, Google had switched to a dynamic taskbar system that users can call up with a half-swipe gesture instead of a static taskbar.
Samsung did not adopt this change in previous versions and left the taskbar either completely open or closed. With the One UI 7 beta version, Galaxy Z Fold 6 users will now be able to automatically hide or open the taskbar as needed.
The official One UI 7 update is expected to be released for all Galaxy Z Fold users to receive these new features. Samsung has confirmed that the update will be available as of April 2025. These innovations, which make the foldable phone experience more fluid, are seen as an important step for Samsung users.
